While LA senorita Meyer's taste in toilets shouldn't have been anybody's business, this tacky display of excess overflowed the bowl of common sense and actually precipitated an investigation into her finances by a U.S Senator...It also caused a storm of speculation among the common folk like myself, who simply could not come up with a valid justification no matter how hard we tried.
Luckily, one group of people had an answer:
the clip was hilarious, however seriously, the 'commode' was not a toilet but was an antique chest of drawers that was installed in one of her offices. I repeat, she did not buy a 23000 dollar toilet to crap in it was an antique chest of drawers!
ReplyDeleteIn a July 7, 2008 release, the office of U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, confirmed that, “Joyce Meyer Ministries provided extensive answers to all questions,” and has “…engaged in open and honest dialogue with committee staff. They have not only provided responses to every question, but, in the spirit of true cooperation, also have provided information over and above what was requested."
I have heard that Joyce Meyer Ministries has been very transparent and that they maintain a satisfactory record with Ministrywatch.com. In terms of the commode, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but $23,000 for a chest of drawers is also insane! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteShe makes her own money selling books, doing conferences, etc. If she wants to buy something outrageous (even if it WERE a toilet), so be it.
ReplyDeleteI always thought the conferences were FREE.
